MKP calls for postponement of Madlanga Commission

The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) has expressed concern over the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, which kicks off in Pretoria on Wednesday.

The MK Party has questioned the timing of the commission’s commencement, saying that it is suspect, given the court case that the party filed to decide on the commission’s validity.

The commission will look into criminality, political interference and corruption in the criminal justice system.

MK Party is set to challenge the legality of the commission in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Thursday.

The party’s spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela says, “When it comes to the Madlanga commission, General Mkhwanazi made allegations that the judiciary, specifically judges, were complicit- and effectively participating in all of these criminal activities.”

“We’re saying that, how do you form a Judicial Commission of Inquiry, when you know very well that the same judiciary, and judges are in effect, potentially complicit, or could be implicated in all these matters. How do we know that even Madlanga himself is not investigating himself? The mere fact that they go and make a decision to start it the day before is really eyebrow-raising,” adds Ndhlela.
