A 35-year-old man accused of raping a woman at Plastic View in Hoedspruit in Limpopo is appearing at the local Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba says the woman was with her boyfriend at a tavern on Saturday night when the accused joined them. The accused later offered to take the woman home but instead took her to his home where he raped her.
Mashaba says he released the woman on Sunday morning and she opened a rape case.
Mashaba adds “A 34-year-old victim was with her boyfriend at the nearest tavern when a male adult known to the boyfriend joined them and was introduced as a friend. At approximately 23:00, the victim decided to leave the tavern and return home. The suspect informed the victim that he would accompany her home, but that they needed to pass by his house so he could put on a jersey.”
