Mobile police stations unveiled by the KZN Premier Thami Ntuli.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli says the government is committed to fighting crime in the province. Ntuli was speaking during the handover of four mobile policing stations.
He says the mobile police stations will be strategically placed in communities. The areas include Inanda, KwaMakhutha, Bulwer, and KwaMbonambi.
Inanda has the highest number of rape cases in the country.
Ntuli says the mobile police stations will enhance police visibility. “It’s going to enhance the visibility of police in areas where there are problems, where they are far from police stations or police are working in far-flung centres. It is going to enable easy access to the services of the police for those communities.
“We’ll prioritise areas where they have complained police stations are far and areas of hot spots where we are experiencing a high number of crime stats. I’m hopeful that this is going to be really helpful. It’s a meaningful contribution and a practical contribution by the government of KwaZulu-Natal,” the Premier explains.
