Foreign forces cause challenges for liberation movements: Mbalula

The ANC Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula says they had frank discussions on the challenges faced by the liberation movements on the continent. Addressing the Liberation Movements Summit in Kempton Park, he says several issues that affect these movements have been identified which include, corruption, factionalism and internal squabbles amongst others.

Mbalula says there is a consensus from parties attending the summit that liberation movements must go back to basics. He has also blamed foreign forces saying they contribute to challenges experienced by liberation movements.

“Patronage, ideological drift, disconnection from the masses and the collapse of the cadre discipline are all a cause for concern. We emerged united on several principles which will be codified in the declaration of the summit and programme of action. We reaffirmed that our destiny is about togetherness, and we reject all forms of foreign interference, neo-colonialism and digital imperialism.
