Trade, Industry and Competition Deputy Minister Zuko Godlimpi interviewed by SABC News reporter, Katlego Legodi at the backdrop of the 18th Annual Competition Law, Economic Policy Conference in Johannesburg on September 4, 2024.
The United States (US) is considering putting together a template that will guide it in its trade negotiations with sub-Saharan countries.
South Africa’s Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Zuko Godlimpi says he recently spoke to the US representatives in Angola, where this issue was discussed.
He was speaking in an exclusive interview with SABC International Editor Sophie Mokoena on the sidelines of the BRICS Business Forum in Brazil.
“The opening remarks by President Lula da Silva were quite instructive. Gave us a good reflection of the task that the BRICS countries must assume in the context of the geopolitical fallout that is affecting trade. There is a question of whether they are able to muster the demand among themselves that is sufficient to de-risk our economies from the effects of trade fallout globally,” says Godlimpi.
