The position of deputy chief justice has been vacant since September 1, last year.
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) will begin interviews of candidates for the position of Deputy Chief Justice in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Wednesday.
The position has been vacant since Chief Justice Mandisa Maya assumed her role at the apex court on 1 September 2024.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has broken tradition and nominated three candidates for the role.
The three candidates who will be interviewed are Gauteng Judge President Dunstan Mlambo, Free State Judge President Cagney Musi, and Northern Cape Judge President Pule Tlaletsi.
All three will be interviewed by the JSC over the course of the next two days.
