DA not aware of Liam Jacobs’ resignation from the party

The Democratic Alliance says it has learnt that its former member Liam Jacobs has joined the Patriotic Alliance.

The party says while it has not yet received a resignation letter from Jacobs, its constitution provides for automatic cessation when its members join other political parties.

Jacobs served on the Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts and Culture. He was also leader of the DA’s Students Organisation.

DA National spokesperson Willie Aucamp elaborates, “We haven’t received any formal resignation letter yet but in terms of the constitution of the Democratic Alliance it is an automatic cessation of your DA membership should you join a different party.”
