Gangsterism, kidnapping, safety issues to be discussed at NCOP

Eradicating gangsterism, funding on VIP protection for members of the Executive and how government is tackling organised crime, particularly looking into kidnapping for ransom, will be among the safety and security issues discussed in the National Council of Provinces this afternoon.

Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshaveni, will answer questions related to security.

Parliamentary spokesperson Moloto Mothapo says, “Key topics will include efforts to combat gangster regime, drug abuse in schools, an update on the state capture task team, as well as the government’s response to organized crime and kidnappings for ransom.”
