Both grades of petrol to decrease by 7 cents in March

The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) has confirmed a slight reduction in fuel prices for March.

Both grades of petrol will drop by 7 cents a litre, while diesel prices are set for a decrease of 17.5 and 23.5 cents a litre, depending on the grade.

At the same time, households will pay 8 cents less for paraffin and LP gas will decrease by 2 cents per kilogram.

The department’s Robert Maake has attributed the price adjustments to lower oil prices and a stronger rand.

“The slate lever remained unchanged at zero cents per litre in the price structures of petrol and diesel and  IP tracer dye levy decreased from 1 cent to a 0.5 cents per litre, in line with the approval by the minister, with the concurrence of the Minister of Finance.”
