The Eastern Cape Liquor Board has introduced new regulations to ensure compliance and responsible trading. They mandate liquor license applicants to comply with municipal zoning approvals.
The license holders must also be physically present on the premises during trading hours and all liquor outlets must implement a mandatory age verification process.
The board’s spokesperson Doctor Mgwebi Msiya says the Eastern Cape Liqour Board is pleased to announce the new regulation which took effect on the 1st of March 2025.
Msiya adds that this will enhance performance measures and strengthen alliance and force accountability towards liquor license holders to promote responsibility through province and align municipal approvals.
