Former President Jacob Zuma’s daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court in KwaZulu-Natal today in connection with the July 2021 civil unrest.

It is not clear whether she will be facing similar charges to those of the 65 alleged instigators.

Zuma-Sambudla, who is also the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party’s member of parliament, is the latest to be charged in connection with the 2021 civil unrest.

The riots affected KwaZulu-Natal and parts of Gauteng and claimed the lives of 354 people.

Businesses and critical infrastructure resulted in the loss of over R50 billion to the country’s economy.

The violence broke out following the arrest of Zuma for violating a constitutional court order after failing to appear before the  State Capture Commission of Inquiry.
