Public Works and Infrastructure Deputy Minister Sihle Zikalala has refuted claims of involvement in the controversial R45 million Independent Development Trust (IDT) lease.

Investigative journalism organisation, AmaBhungane reported how Zikalala and IDT Board Chairperson, Kwazi Mshengu allegedly played key roles in halting a National Treasury probe into the controversial lease.

Zikalala has dismissed media reports as false.

He says he will report this to the Office of the Public Protector.

“My request to the Public Protector is to in investigate my conduct. Whether I have acted or committed any misconduct that this media house is alleging. And I believe it is for this media house to go to the Public Protector because within 24 hours, I would have submitted and say Sihle Zikalala conducted a misconduct here and here.”
