The 30-year old Xaba also set a new course record when she won her sixth 21.1 km national half marathon, in a row. The South African Half Marathon race in Phalaborwa, Limpopo, was Xaba’s 17th national title overall.
Xaba pocketed over R100 000 for winning the race and also setting a new course record. She finished the race in 1 hour 12 minutes and 19 seconds. But Xaba’s time was six minutes outside Elana Meyer’s long standing South African record set way back, in 1999.
The men’s category was won by Thabang Mosiako. The 30-year old Mosiako from the North West province clocked 1 hour 4 minutes, when he won his second national title.
Mosiako pocketed R65 000.
