WSU students vow to continue protests over living conditions

1 minute

Students at Walter Sisulu University (WSU) in the Eastern Cape have vowed to continue protesting for improved living conditions.

The High Court in Mthatha halted their eviction from campus following violent demonstrations on Friday.

The South African Students Federation (SASF) supports the students, asserting they are fighting for their human rights.

The organisation claims engagements with university management have failed to deliver any progress.

SASF President Keamogetswe Masike states, There are broader systemic issues that are happening there at WSU and unfortunately the university in the process, is failing to take that accountability. The protest is continuing on our side as well. We are monitoring these developments, on what it is that is happening but as far as we’re concerned, we’re engaging with the SRC there, and the SRC has come forward to say they are continuing with the struggle.
