Woman’s decapitated body found in Bloemfontein, police probe

Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a female body in Heidedal in Bloemfontein.

It’s reported that two children found the decapitated and partially submerged body floating in a flooded old building while playing.

Free State police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli says an inquest has been opened.

“Due to the difficult conditions, the Bloemfontein Diving and Rescue Unit was dispatched to the scene to assist in recovering the remains. The body was discovered to be in a state of decomposition, consisting only of a torso and legs. The victim was wearing multi-colored leggings and a single Soviet sneaker on her left foot. Police are currently making efforts to drain the water from the building in hopes of locating the missing upper part of the body.”
