Woman shot execution-style on the Cape Flats

A 58-year-old woman has been shot execution-style in Delft on the Cape Flats. Police say the incident happened on Thursday night.

Serious crime has continued unabated on the Cape Flats despite the deployment of SANDF members to the area to assist police.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg says, “Police members attended to the crime scene where they found the victim in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to her head. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.”

“According to reports, two unknown suspects entered the house and shot the victim. The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and cellular telephones. The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation,” adds Twigg.

Child wounded in crossfire

Meanwhile, a six-year-old girl is still in hospital after being wounded in crossfire in Valhalla on the Cape Flats earlier this week.

The girl was shot in the head in the incident, which is suspected to be gang-related.

Twigg says that according to reports, the child was caught in the crossfire when rival gangs started shooting.

He says police are following up on all leads in efforts to bring the perpetrators to book.
