Witness testifies lead suspect in Lusikisiki massacre dealt in drugs

The trial  of six men who allegedly killed 18 people in Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape continued today and during the cross-examination of one of the witnesses, he accused the first suspect, Mzukisi Ndamase, of being a drug dealer.

Taking place at the Mthatha High Court in the Eastern Cape, Sikho Sinqina further alleged that Ndamase tried to recruit him to help kill a state witness in one of his cases.

Sinqina is the person that the assassinators were allegedly looking for on the day 18 people were killed.

During the cross examination, Sinqina accused Ndamase of trying to recruit him after his uncle, who used to work for Ndamase, passed on.

He alleges Ndamase first called him in 2021 and their communication stopped in 2023 when he ordered him to kill a state witness.

Sinqina told the court that Ndamase, who is representing himself in the case, is the alleged mastermind, but Ndamase denies all the allegations.

This after he was adviced by the court to state whether he refuted the allegations and the witness was also adviced not to give evidence based on emotions but facts.

The court adjourned after the witness said he was tired and it will resume tomorrow with Sinqina still on the stand.

Ndamase is facing a total of 24 charges.
