Witness A has testified how he received a phone call after from a “certain individual’ informing him that Katiso “KT” Molefe “owns” the police generals.
The witness says he received a phone call shortly after Molefe was arrested.
Molefe was arrested in December last year, after he was linked to the murder of Vereeniging Engineer Armand Swart.
During the Madlanga Commission Witness A reviled that a phone call from the certain individual demonstrated Molefe’s influence over law enforcement agencies.
“And just maybe to add on that, commissioners. There was a call that I got from a certain individual shortly after we’ve arrested Molefe which then said to us, to me, that we are aware that the person that we have just arrested ‘is the person of the generals’. He put it in that way. The person that we’ve just arrested ‘is the person of the generals’. Then I told that person to say, I did not know that. And he said, yeah.”

The witness further testified that he found it alarming that a traffic police helicopter was hovering low over Molefe’s Sandhurst home in Johannesburg, the day he was arrested. And it was labelled as more protection.
“Can we get protection? Because on that one, I really asked for protection to say, I think we’ll have a problem here. Can we maybe have reinforcement? I understand that we had TRT that we were with, that were giving us protection and protecting the scene and all that. But now seeing a helicopter above, you can see now you are going to be outnumbered because these people now are airborne,” said Witness A.
