Firefighters are seen in Jeffrey’s bay along the N2 in the Eastern Cape after containing a wildfire in the area.
Several roads in the Eastern Cape have been closed to traffic as a result of raging fires.
The fires have been re-igniting since Tuesday in several parts of the western side of the province.
The N2 between Humansdorp and Jeffrey’s Bay remains closed, while Boknes Road near R72 has also been closed after the fire re-ignited Thursday afternoon.
Farming communities residing close to the R330 between Hankey and Humansdorp are being evacuated.
The Department of Transport says that the R62 between Tripholia and Kareedouw is being closed to traffic.
Currently, Nelson Mandela Bay Metro firefighters are battling several blazes that have led to road closures in parts of that metro.
The N2 near Stanford Road, Walker Drive near Sherwood, and Rocklands Road connecting Gqeberha and Kariega are some of the affected roads in the metro.
Meanwhile, traffic is being redirected to R102 between Jeffrey’s Bay and Humansdorp due to dense smoke on the N2.
