The Garden Route District Municipality says a wildfire near Gouritsmond in the Hessequa area of the Western Cape has been contained.
The fire started earlier this week and had been burning out of control at one stage.
Municipal Spokesperson, Herman Pieters, says that they’re concerned that forecasted high wind conditions may result in flare-ups.
“Mopping up operations are crucial for today, and additional ground teams are deployed to patrol and secure the entire perimeter. Contingency measures remain in place, including preparations for counter-burning operations. A helicopter is also on standby should aerial support become necessary.”
