The Western Cape remains the province with the lowest official unemployment rate at 19.6-percent in the first quarter of 2025.

Western Cape Premier Alan Winde says the province has maintained a rate below 20-percent for three consecutive quarters.

Winde says improvements in the Expanded Unemployment, Absorption and Labour Force Participation Rates, further highlight economic progress.

He says over 100 000 jobs have been created in the province year-on-year.

Winde says continued support for businesses and entrepreneurs is vital to sustaining this momentum.

“It is important that our economy really flourishes because that is how we bring real change for our citizens and give them hope that there is a future. Whether you are still at school, you can see a future for yourself. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, there’s a place that you can take risk and start a business that’s going to find success. Congratulations and thank you very much to every single business in our province that has gone ahead and improved, invested and created these jobs.”
