The Western Cape Cabinet is expected to meet today to decide whether or not to declare Knysna a disaster area due to the drought.
The Akkerkloof Dam is sitting at 18% water level, as the local municipality counts down to day zero.
There’s about a week of water left and residents, businesses and the municipality are under growing pressure as water supplies run dangerously low.

Premier Alan Winde urged residents to use water wisely.
“We’re seeing the reduction in the usage from the system end of season and residents using water far more wisely, 50 litres a day per person. You got to work at that; it doesn’t just happen. You need the responsibility of citizens and businesses. We will play our part, but government has to play their part as well.”
