2 minutes

Volvo South Africa has issued a safety recall for three of its models launched into the domestic vehicle market between January 2023 and October 2024.

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) says Volvo SA notified the commission about the recall of the three models.

This affects 109 vehicles that were sold nationwide.

NCC Head of Compliance, Prudence Moilwa, has called for calm and urged consumers to take those cars back to Volvo to be fixed accordingly.

Moilwa says, “The models that are involved is the XC90, which was made available as you said on the 29th of October, the XC40, my 2024 made available on the 24th of January.”

She says, “So the issues are you know in the main related to the braking system, and it’s important to also note that this affects about 109 vehicles only. We do not want to raise panic around the sale of Volvo Cars because this is just a notification to the people who drive those cars.”

Moilwa has urged the public to visit their website to learn about various models of vehicles and makes that are being recalled.

She says, “It is not just a recall by Volvo car because when you go to our website you will find that various makes and models of vehicles are being recalled. So we are saying to South African consumers, please make time to please review the website of the National Consumer Commission for other requests that have been conducted in the past that might still be going on.”
