Vodacom posts a 32.3% increase in interim profit

Vodacom has posted a 32.3% increase in interim profit with improved earnings.

However, despite strong financials from the group, a multi-million rand once-off payout to Nkosana Makate in relation to the “Please Call Me” matter has raised concerns among investors.

Stiff competition in the local market affected its South African operations.

Vodacom was able to declare an interim dividend of 330 cents per share owing to the positive headline earnings.

CEO Shameel Joosub says the results reflect solid execution and a more stable macroeconomic backdrop.
