Violence against women raised at National Day of Prayer

Attendees of the National Day of Prayer in Soweto have expressed outrage at the state of violent crime in the country especially against women and children.

Representatives of various church denominations, civil and political formations including government ministers graced the occasion.

The event was a call for people to pray for healing and unity in the country, as it battled serious socio-economic challenges including youth unemployment, drug and substance abuse, lawlessness and inequality.

“I feel very bad. You know, the things that are happening to women and grandchildren, it’s very disappointing. So, we’re really hoping that this prayer will bring change in our country and in the whole world,” said one of the attendees.
