Nico Buys will be imprisoned for 18 years for sexually assaulting 4 boys aged between 8 and 12.
The Upington Regional Court has sentenced 37-year-old Nico Buys to 18 years in prison for multiple sexual offences committed against four young boys, aged between 8 and 10, in 2021 and 2022.
Buys was initially charged with four counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault.
After hearing extensive evidence, the court convicted him on two counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, and one count of sexual assault.
His details will be entered into the National Register for Sex Offenders.

“He lured these young children to his home in Paballelo before committing this offences. The office of DPP in the Northern Cape commends the courage of these young victims and stressed that crime against children will be prosecuted without mercy,” says National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Spokesperson in the Northern Cape, Mojalefa Senokoatsane.
