Chaos erupted in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature over the motion of no confidence against Premier Thami Ntuli on December 15, 2025.
The KwaZulu-Natal Speaker, Nontembeko Boyce, has suspended 37 members of the legislature for disorderly and unlawful conduct during the motion of no confidence sitting on December 15.
It is reported that 36 suspended members are from uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) and one is from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
The suspension follows a clash between police and disgruntled MKP members after failing to oust Thami Ntuli as premier in a motion of no confidence vote.
The provincial Legislature in Pietermaritzburg descended into chaos upon the announcement.
In a statement, Boyce says the Legislature will not tolerate violence, intimidation or deliberate disruption of its proceedings.
