Broken windshield after a car crash.
Limpopo MEC for Transport, Violet Mathye says the number of people killed in the road crash in Hoedspruit is 13 and not 15 as reported earlier. Mathye visited the R40 road where a bakkie collided head-on with a taxi and caught fire.
The 13 were burnt beyond recognition. Three other passengers were taken to hospital with severe burn wounds.
“In the bakkie there were six people and in the taxi there were 10 people. So all the 10 people in the taxi died on the spot and three from the bakkie died on the spot meaning 13 died on the spot and three have been taken to Tintsoalo hospital. The report that I got; they were saying there was overtaking where I’m sure the two cars, the bakkie, and the taxi collided head-on then they sparked fire. All of them were burnt beyond recognition.”
