A confiscated gun.
A police anti-kidnapping task team has arrested two men, aged 34 and 45, in Meyersdal, Johannesburg, on Monday.
The arrests followed days of surveillance and intelligence operations across provinces where suspects involved in the moving of unlicensed firearms were identified.
The suspects were caught with 30 unlicensed 9mm firearms, believed to be headed to the Western Cape.
Police say the men had planned to transport the weapons themselves. They have been linked to other criminal cases in the Gauteng and Western Cape provinces.
The suspects are now in custody and face multiple charges, including illegal possession and trafficking of firearms.
Investigations continue as police hunt for more members of the gun trafficking syndicate.
