A University of Venda student arrested in connection with the murder of his girlfriend is expected to appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court, in Limpopo, on Monday.
Police say the suspect, a 20-year-old student, allegedly stabbed the victim, a fellow student, to death during a fight. The victim was stabbed in their off-campus accommodation on Friday.
Police say security guards forcefully opened the door after hearing screams and cries for help.
They say the body of a female student was found in a pool of blood with stab wounds. The deceased was a first-year Bachelor of Arts student, while the suspect is a second-year Bachelor of Environmental Science student.
Police have also discovered the suspected murder weapons. The suspect will face a charge of murder.
