Rest in peace on tombstone.
The African National Congress (ANC) has confirmed the death of its long-serving chaplain and an uMkhonto we Sizwe veteran, Reverend Moruti Maphatsoe, in Johannesburg.
The party has described him as a man of deep conviction who guided comrades with humility.
National Spokesperson, Mahlengi Bhengu, says the reverend’s death has left a profound void in the party.
“The African National Congress mourns the untimely passing of our beloved chaplain Comrade Moruti Maphatsoe, whose life was a profound testament to compassion, service, and unwavering faith in the values of our movement and the liberation struggle. Comrade Moruti was not only a spiritual pillar of strength within our ranks but also a committed cadre of uMkhonto we Sizwe, the people’s army, that fought fearlessly for the freedom and dignity of our people.”
