The UK’s Senior Trade Commissioner for Africa, John Humphrey, says their experience in managing public-private partnerships for infrastructure development could help create guidelines for private sector collaboration in South Africa.
He was speaking during the Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium South Africa conference in Cape Town.
Humphrey says the UK also remains a major capital market for infrastructure development projects in South Africa.
“A lot of capital investments into Africa as a whole come via the UK and that includes investments into South Africa as well. The UK government also has a lot of experience in things like public private partnerships and major projects management. So, we’re really trying to work with the South African government to see if we can help facilitate the project development and financing framework,” says Humphrey.
