UFH Vice Chancellor to get full pay during his suspension

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Fort Hare (UFH) in Alice in the Eastern Cape will be getting full pay during his suspension. Professor Sakhela Buhlungu has been placed on precautionary suspension following a forensic investigation into alleged irregularities in two executive appointments.

Dr Nthabi Taole-Mjimba is acting in his position.

Some students have welcomed Buhlungu’s suspension.

“It has been long overdue. We are quite happy as the students of Fort Hare that finally the council has taken a decision to suspend the Vice-Chancellor of the University. The Vice-Chancellor has been undermining student activism at the university and suppressing student activism and student leaders at large.”
