Gambling machine.
Police have arrested two women in Manenberg on the Cape Flats for being in possession of illegal gambling machines in their houses, without the necessary operating licenses.
Authorities raided the premises, which operate gambling machines without the necessary documentation.
Police Spokesperson, Anelisiwe Manyana says the suspects aged 43 and 46 are expected to appear in court once they’ve been charged.
“The women arrested in possession of these machines are not the owners. Therefore, we plead with our community to stop incriminating themselves, trying to make quick money by having these machines installed in their homes. They run the risk of being evicted by the City of Cape Town as these houses are part of the city’s rental stock. The premises could be forfeited to the state for being used in the commission of crime,” says Manyana.
