Two people have been shot and killed at a taxi rank in Philippi East (Cape Flats) earlier today. Police spokesperson, Malcolm Pojie says unknown gunmen opened fire at six adults aged between 35 and 43, leaving one victim dead at the scene.
He says the second victim died in hospital.
Four others, in which three are taxi drivers, are being treated at a medical facility.
No arrests have been made.
Pojie says the incident follows another shooting earlier this morning which happened in Khayelitsha.
“Two armed men approached the Vuyani Taxi Rank where they opened fire and killed a taxi driver and wounded two other drivers. They were transported to a medical facility for treatment. The motives for these attacks are believed to be taxi-conflict related.”
