Two National Freedom Party (NFP) councillors have resigned from Nongoma Local Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal.
Kaiser Dladla and Mshangane Ndabandaba submitted their letters of resignation yesterday after having served for four years.
Their resignations follow the resignations of three other NFP councillors in Nongoma a month ago, resulting in by-elections.
It is not clear whether their resignations are linked to the party’s internal squabbles.
This comes as suspended provincial chairperson, Mbali Shinga, who is also MEC for Social Development, is undergoing a disciplinary hearing.
Shinga is accused of defying party orders for voting against a motion of no confidence instituted in efforts to remove Thami Ntuli as premier during a seating in the Provincial Legislature in December last year.
The NFP withdrew from the Government of Provincial Unity in the province earlier this year.
