Two men sought for tavern assault in KZN turn themselves in


The two men, who were wanted for the brutal assault of a woman at a tavern in Plessislaer in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands, have handed themselves over.

They are due to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate Court soon.

A video of the brutal assault went viral on social media with many activists calling for justice.

Police say the two are facing charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police Spokesperson Ntathu Ndlovu says, “Two males aged between 43 and 46 handed themselves over to police in Plessislaer. The suspects have been arrested and charged with assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and are expected to appear at the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate Court. This was after a circulating video on social media where two males are seen brutally assaulting a female victim at a local tavern.”
