Two brothers arrested for the possession of rifles and ammunition in Ezakheni, KwaZulu-Natal, are expected to appear in court today.

Police say the siblings are also suspected to be linked to a string of taxi-related murders in the area.

Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says, “The suspects were found at their home, and upon searching their rooms, the 49-year-old suspect was found in possession of an AK47 assault rifle and two magazines with 70 rounds of ammunition. His 44-year-old brother was also found in possession of an R4 rifle with 35 rounds of ammunition. The two brothers were immediately arrested for being in illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. Investigations are under way to establish any linkages between the recovered firearms and murder cases which were reported in the area as well as other parts of the province.”
