Two people have been shot dead and two others wounded in Voortrekker Road near Parow in Cape Town.
Police spokesperson, Joseph Swartbooi says the incident occurred on Saturday and is believed to be gang related.
He says the two other people have been taken to a medical facility for treatment.
Swartbooi says the suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.
“Reports suggested that the occupants of a Silver VW Polo was travelling on Voortrekker road in the direction of Parow when unknown armed men opened fire on their vehicle. Two men did not survive the onslaught on their lives whilst two others were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and another male escaped unharmed.”
In Gauteng, police are yet to establish the motive for the killing of five people in a shooting incident at a tavern in Olievenhoutbosch, Pretoria last night.
Nine other people were wounded and taken to hospital in the Choba informal settlement.
Police have confirmed that they have arrested the owner of the tavern. He is suspected to be an undocumented migrant.
Police are searching for 10 people who stormed the tavern and opened fire randomly.
Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo, says, “So far, we can confirm that it’s five people who who died. It’s two females and three males. Initially, we were told that it’s three people who were injured, but now the number has increased to nine. So, we’ve got nine people that are in hospital. We’ve started with our investigation, but the motive is unknown at this stage. So, the information that we’ve got is that about 10 suspects … they started to shoot around without saying.”
