Two men have been killed in an incident in which a structure they were working on collapsed on them in Phoenix in northern Durban.
Paramedics found the men trapped under rubble.
Prem Balram, who is from a private security company, says they are assisting emergency services to extract the bodies.
“Reaction Unit South Africa was called out to Canehaven Drive in Phoenix KZN this morning. We received multiple calls from residents in the area reporting a structural collapse.”
Balram adds: “When paramedics and reaction officers got to the scene, it was established that a retaining wall had collapsed on two Mozambican nationals who were working on digging a trench in the same vicinity. Both were declared deceased, and the eThekwini Fire Department was called to the scene to help recover the bodies.” -Reporting by Salma Patel
