Two killed in Limpopo bus-truck head-on collision

Two people have been killed and seven injured when a bus and a truck collided head-on on the N1 outside Louis Trichardt in Limpopo.

The injured have been taken to hospital.

The deceased are bus and truck drivers.

Head of Emergency Services Personnel in the Vhembe District Solomon Mohale says, “Early morning (Thursday), we received a call that there is a bus and a truck accident, head-on collision. On arrival, we found that indeed a bus and truck were involved in an accident. We had two fatalities and those injured people were taken to Siloam and Louis Trichadt Memorial Hospital.”

Meanwhile, the Eastern Cape Transport Department says is hopeful it will keep the downward trajectory of road fatalities in the province until the end of the holiday season.

The department says it has recorded a decrease in the number of fatalities on the roads compared to the previous year during this period.

A number of roadblocks were set up across the province with a major one at Kei Bridge just outside Butterworth as traffic volumes continue to peak up
