Two people have been killed when the bakkie they were travelling in overturned on R57 between Kestel and QwaQwa, in the Free State.
Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Sipho Towa says the bakkie was allegedly transporting boys from Kestel to an initiation school in QwaQwa.
Eleven people are critically injured, 17 slightly injured and two moderately injured.
The injured have been taken to Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli hospital and Elizabeth Ross Hospital in QwaQwa.
Some have been taken to Busamed Private hospital in Harrismith.
The two were declared dead on the scene.
Meanwhile, one person has been killed in a hit and run incident on the N8 in the Free State.
Free State Emergency Services say the hit and run occurred at the Botshabelo hiking spot.
The man’s body has been taken to the Botshabelo Mortuary.
