Two foreign nationals are due to appear in the Vredendal Magistrate’s Court on Monday after dagga with a street value of over R700 thousand was found in their possession.
Police Spokesperson, FC Van Wyk, says the Provincial Narcotics Unit, the Vredendal Crime Prevention Unit and Namaqualand K9 Unit, conducted a search operation at a premises when they made the arrest.
Van Wyk says the dagga was hidden in a travelling bag underneath a bed.
“Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the bag contained parcels of higher grade indoor dagga. The dagga had a weight of almost 9kg with an estimated street value of R 720,000,00. Two Tanzania foreign nationals aged 25 and 30 were arrested and charged for dealing in drugs and (violating) the Illegal immigrants Act 13/2002/49(1). The suspects will appear in the Vredendal Magistrate’s Court soon,” says Van Wyk.
