Eastern Cape Acting Police Commissioner Thandiswa Kupiso has condemned the killing of two elderly sisters, aged 75 and 85, in Upper Ncerha outside Alice.

The sisters were fatally shot in their home. They were sleeping when the suspects forcefully entered their house and opened fire.

Police found the women with gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.

Police spokesperson Siphokazi Mawisa says a preliminary investigation was done with no success.

Mawisa says that Kupiso has given orders to the investigating team to ensure that those who are responsible for killing the elderly people are brought to justice and face the full might of the law.

“Violence against women, children and elderly people is unacceptable and the SAPS is committed to protecting the vulnerable in society against the increase of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).”
