Floods in Eastern Cape.
The Gift of the Givers (GoG) say their combined search operations with the police and provincial EMS teams, recovered two bodies from the flood ravaged areas in Mthatha, on Sunday.
A project manager of the organisation, Ali Sablay says the first body was spotted from the air by the police helicopter, this morning.
Later, they responded to a community call that spotted a body floating in the water. At least 88 people died in the flooding last week, in the Eastern Cape.
Sablay says they’ve been inundated with people reporting loved ones missing.
“An appeal from GoG to all families who are missing people, to please report it to your nearest police station, your councillor and your community leader, as GoG teams and the department will not know what we are searching for,” says Sablay.
He says their operation will continue for the next few days as more missing people are reported.
