Musician and actress Winnie Khumalo.
Music producer Sello Chicco Twala has slammed the African National Congress (ANC), saying it has failed South African artists.
He was speaking at the funeral service of singer and songwriter, Winnie Khumalo at the Protea Multipurpose Centre in Soweto.
Khumalo died earlier this month at the age of 51 following a short illness.
Twala has called upon government to support artists, including those who can’t afford medical aid.
“Winnie does not deserve to die the way she did. She suffered. The likes of Winnie and many of our musicians (who) were instrumental in generating the millions in our sector deserve better and I want our government to do something about that. I am a member of the ANC and for them to not fight for us when we fought for them is a shame.”

Meanwhile, Khumalo’s family has thanked those who have supported them since her passing.
The musician’s uncle Lindani Khumalo says it is time for family and friends to come together to mourn their loved one.
“You have come to give us a hand and from the bottom of our hearts, we have this sincere gratitude to you all. The Lord is good even during this time. He remains faithful. It is not easy to all of us. We are going through a really tough time. This is the time to come together. We face life together.”
