The Rooiwal Waste Water Treatment Plant project in Pretoria.
City of Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya and her mayoral committee are expected to visit the Rooiwal Waste Water Treatment Plant today.
This comes just days after her visit to Hammanskraal last week where she declared that the water being supplied by the Magalies Klipdrift Water Treatment Plant to parts of the township was now safe to drink.
The Rooiwal Waste Water Treatment Plant is currently being upgraded.
It is expected that once the project is complete it will augment the provision of water including to Hammanskraal, where more than 30 people died in 2023 following a Cholera outbreak.
The Rooiwal project has been plagued by allegations of corruption and mismanagement that saw the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) being roped in to probe the irregularities.
The multi-phased Magalies Water Klipdrift project is scheduled for completion by mid-2025.
It is hoped that as each phase is finished, additional areas in Hammanskraal will gain access to clean drinking water.
