The father of the late editor Tshidi Madia says he is proud of the prolific journalist his daughter became.
Madia passed away last week after a short illness.
Speaking at his daugther’s funeral service in Germiston in Ekurhuleni today, Silas Madia described her as a jewel with a heart of gold.
He says he is still devastated by his daughter’s passing.
“You taught me patience, laughter and the purest kind of love for that I will always be grateful. Our home never be same; we already miss your loud voice that brought joy and and life into the house. Your booming laughter that brought warmth every heart and generosity that touched us all. You always cared about my wellbeing and always asked if I’ve eaten.”
Madia has also been described by her colleagues in the journalism profession as a fearless storyteller who was passionate about transformation.
They say she lived a bold and colorful life filled with meaningful adventures.
Former broadcast journalist and now Department of Tourism Spokesperson, Aldrin Sampear, who is a friend of Madia, says she was kind and loving.
“Friend, thank you for the love that you have given me and the kindness that you have extended to me and the people around you and for being the glue that has kept our friendship together and being the voice of reason sometimes when I felt lost.”
