Truck drivers, logistics firms reach settlement in KZN High Court

The Pietermaritzburg High Court granted a draft consent order between the companies and All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied South Africa.

Diraro Logistics, Logita Logistics and Nalindo had tried to get the leaders jailed for being in contempt of a court order issued after last year’s strike.

Attacks and looting of trucks, has left road freight sector counting the costs. The ongoing attacks have led to freight companies taking legal action against truck drivers.

In the latest matter, freight companies accused truck drivers of violating a December court order prohibiting them from conducting blockades at their properties and intimidating staff.

The two sides have been engaged in years-long dispute including violent protests over working conditions and treatment of workers.

Drivers have committed to abide by the order.
