The Judicial Conduct Tribunal has found Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge guilty of misconduct for initiating a flirtatious relationship with his secretary Andiswa Mengo on social media platform WhatsApp.
However, the tribunal has found Mbenenge not guilty of impeachable misconduct following the incident which happened between June 2021 and November 2022.
It has recommended a lighter sanction of misconduct against him.
Mengo had accused Mbenenge of sexual harassment which he vehemently denied.
JUST IN: Judicial Conduct Tribunal has recommended a lighter sanction of “misconduct” against EC top JP, Selby Mbenenge (in the sexual harassment probe). The JSC still has to consider this recommendation & make the final call (they could uphold or overturn the decision) #SABCNews pic.twitter.com/8DyH3wcB61
